The number of staffed hospital beds at Perth Royal Infirmary is at its lowest level in recent years. When the SNP came to power in 2007 there were 309 staffed beds, in 2016 that figure dropped to 235 and as far back as 2003 there were 327 beds at the hospital.
A reduction of 74 beds represents a 24% reduction in staffed bed capacity at the hospital. In the corresponding period (2007-2016) the number of beds at Ninewells in Dundee increased from 768 to 800.
Across Scotland there has been a reduction of 8000 beds since 2003.
