A new funding programme, run by the Big Lottery Fund, has just been opened to local communities and voluntary organisations.
Big Lottery Fund’s ‘Celebrate Scotland ’ programme will provide grants of between £500 and £5000 for projects lasting up to 12 months that in some way bring people together to celebrate their local community. This could include something to do with local history or a local community hero, or just something which brings people to get to know their neighbours better.
Liz Smith MSP has urged Perth and Kinross, Fife, Stirling and Clackmannanshire communities and organisations to apply for a share of the £575,000 available across Scotland.
Liz Smith MSP said:
“The opening of this fund presents a huge opportunity for Perth and Kinross, Fife, Stirling and Clackmannanshire communities to celebrate their history and heritage.
“The aim of this funding is to bring people together and at a time of huge division in our country I believe there is no better timing for this project.
“With grants of up to £5000 available there are a number of different ways in which to spend this cash and I would encourage any interested parties to act fast as the fund will close when all of the money has been distributed.”
